NUMBER
NOVA
Small numbers. Fast brain. Big boom.
How to play Number Nova
Number Nova is mental-arithmetic practice shaped like an arcade game. A question appears, you answer it, the next one appears immediately. Answer by tapping one of the offered choices or by typing the number on the keypad. The setup screen lets you pick which, because multiple choice and free entry train slightly different things.
Three modes change what pressure you are under. Sprint gives you 60 seconds and asks for the highest score you can reach. Survival gives you three lives and a clock that keeps shrinking, so every answer has to come faster than the last. Zen is untimed practice with nothing to lose.
Controls
- Keyboard: type the answer, Backspace corrects, Enter submits and Esc pauses.
- Touch: the keypad and the answer tiles take the same input, so nothing needs a keyboard.
Difficulty, operations and progress
Four difficulties (Easy, Medium, Hard, Insane) scale the numbers rather than the rules: the same six operations on bigger figures, worth more points each, on a shorter Survival clock. Six operation types can be switched on and off independently: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, squares and percentages. Turning off everything but one is how you drill a weak spot; turning everything on is how you practise switching between them, which is the harder skill.
A correct answer builds a combo multiplier and a wrong one resets it, so accuracy outscores speed over a full run. Finished runs award XP toward a level and count toward a daily streak, and the end-of-run card reports questions answered, accuracy, best streak and average time per question. The numbers worth tracking if you are practising rather than just playing. All of it is stored in this browser only.
Questions
Is Number Nova free?
Yes, completely. There is nothing to download, nothing to install, no account and no sign-up. The page loads and the game runs in the browser tab, on desktop or phone.
Which mode should I start with?
Zen, if you want to find your level without a clock in the way. Sprint is the 60-second high-score chase and the best measure of how fast you actually are. Survival is the hardest of the three: three lives and a clock that shrinks with every question.
Can I practise just one operation?
Yes. The six operation types (add, subtract, multiply, divide, squares and percentages) are independent toggles on the setup screen, so you can drill multiplication alone, or percentages alone, and leave the rest off.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Answers can be tapped from the offered choices or typed on the on-screen keypad, so no keyboard is needed.
